OUT NOW!

Purple Desert Records marks its 10th release with a challenging collaboration with the Russian artist Konoplin. The EP crossed borders and creative boundaries, where each artist made two beats and 2 add-ons. Two minds and a lot of fresh ideas results in an inspiring and experimental four track EP. A complete journey across the globe and ‘Columbus’ EP is born.
Konoplin, a music teacher and synth lover, strongly identified with the music’s rhythms, turned the rolling low ends of Impello to something timeless. And vice versa, basslines, crunchy drums and serious head-shaking percussion inspired Impello to serious beat-repeat.

‘N I Ñ A’ starts with a heavy dose of low-end funk and opens up quickly with heavy pumped bass and smooth stabs. Followed by rhythmic percussion and dreamy strings which take you into the next gear.

‘Santa Maria’ shows that mixing the movement in the low-end can make a huge difference. Electronic glitches and moving pads that give way to sheaths of stirring melody, before the cut drops into an industrial end.

‘Pinta’ is the future-focused adaption with a misty-eyed spirit. Broken and disrupted percussion brings the track into the emergency room environment.

Pulsating and precise, ‘Voyager-2’ has the perfect fit of deep groove-licked techno and hypnotic synth lines.
It’s the kind of experimental techno that’ll the techno lover wanting more and a truly addition to the Purple Desert Records catalogue.
